HF4A 18 - My First Claim (5)

Tags

First time I can recall playing United Nations Cosmonauts (A). This game went pretty well. It looks like with reasonable luck, a first claim can prospected between 15-18 turns, this game taking 16. Hopefully I can play enough games to get some sort of an average.

The turn information is imported from a csv downloaded from a spreadsheet. It's easier to track on the spreadsheet than it is here, and the spreadsheet provides a more portable record.

Turn 1

  • Operation: Research: Rock Splitter robonaut
  • Event: Pad Explosion
  • Starting Aqua: 8
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 7

Turn 2

  • Operation: Research: Cascade Photovoltaic generator
  • Starting Aqua: 7
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 6

Turn 3

  • Operation: Research: Photon Heliogyro
  • Event: Inspiration
  • Notes: I can slowly get to Mars pretty much right now, or at least get started that direction. I don't want this craft caught out in Red Season though.
  • Starting Aqua: 6
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 5

Turn 4

  • Operation: Boost
  • Starting Aqua: 5
  • Net Δ Aqua: -3
  • Ending Aqua: 2

Turn 5

  • Operation: Research: Brayton Turbine generator
  • Event: Inspiration
  • Notes: I need to generate some cash to fuel up so that I can get through Sol rad belt.
  • Starting Aqua: 2
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 1

Turn 6

  • Operation: Research: Mass Driver thruster
  • Notes: Buying up cheap patents to sell, hopefully won't get any pad explosions.
  • Starting Aqua: 1
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 0

Turn 7

  • Operation: Free Market: Mass Driver
  • Event: Solar Flare
  • Notes: Good thing I didn't try to fly. I don't think I would have passed the Belt roll anyway, with the 1 Rad Hard Cascade Photoelectric generator.
  • Starting Aqua: 0
  • Net Δ Aqua: 3
  • Ending Aqua: 3

Turn 8

  • Operation: Research: MET Steamer robonaut
  • Notes: Start selling next turn.
  • Starting Aqua: 3
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 2

Turn 9

  • Operation: Research: Metallic Hydrogen reactor
  • Event: Pad explosion
  • Notes: That's bad, the mass 3 generator decommissioned. That's going to cost me at least 3 turns.
  • Starting Aqua: 2
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 1

Turn 10

  • Operation: Free Market: Metallic Hydrogen reactor
  • Starting Aqua: 1
  • Net Δ Aqua: 3
  • Ending Aqua: 4

Turn 11

  • Operation: Free Market: Brayton Turbine
  • Event: Inspiration
  • Notes: Need more money.
  • Starting Aqua: 4
  • Net Δ Aqua: 3
  • Ending Aqua: 7

Turn 12

  • Operation: Research: Kuck Mosquito robonaut
  • Starting Aqua: 7
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 6

Turn 13

  • Operation: Free Market: Kuck Mosquito
  • Event: Inspiration
  • Starting Aqua: 6
  • Net Δ Aqua: 3
  • Ending Aqua: 9

Turn 14

  • Operation: Boost
  • Free Actions: - Cargo transfer: build rocket from MET Steamer and Cascade Photovoltaic

  • Internal Tankage: fuel up
  • Movement: Move to the Mar-LEO Hohmann, belt roll 4 is passed, all good.
  • Notes: I need to move this turn, if I wait more turns I risk pad explosions, budget cuts, etc. I won't get the afterburn, which puts the rocket at risk for failing a belt roll.
  • Starting Aqua: 9
  • Net Δ Aqua: -9
  • Ending Aqua: 0

Turn 15

  • Operation: Income
  • Movement: Move to the Martian Moonlets burn. Decide whether to wait three more turns for FINAO, or roll the aerobrake.
  • Notes: Aerobrake roll is 6, landed on Mars Arisa Mons Caves with the MET Steamer and Cascade Photovoltaic generator.
  • Starting Aqua: 0
  • Net Δ Aqua: 1
  • Ending Aqua: 1

Turn 16

  • Operation: Prospect: automatically succeeds.
  • Notes: Claim Arisa Mons Caves and that's the game. I'm disappointed I wasn't able to get the buggy, but the Sail just didn't have enough protection to deal with radiation belts for the components I used.
  • Starting Aqua: 1
  • Net Δ Aqua: 0
  • Ending Aqua: 1
