HF4A 30 - My First Claim (11)

Tags

I'm starting a new sequence of My First Claim plays. For the next 10 plays, I'll be using the Solo Politics module, which is going to be printed in Module 4, hence, it's official.

For the record, I'm interpreting the Boost free action from the Individuality Active Law as being actually free, as is costs no Aqua. I'm not sure this is the intent, but Free Actions are free as in costing no Aqua, with the exception of the Lobby free action which costs 1 Aqua. If this wasn't the intent, the wording ought to be changed for that particular law, and Free Actions should just be called "Actions." Since not all of them are free.

Anyway, even if the official ruling turns out against this (boosting always costs Aqua), I'm still playing this sequence of games with no-cost boosts in that law. Grinding for Aqua is super boring.

Turn 1

  • Operation: Research: Phase-Locked Diode Laser robonaut
  • Event: Inspiration.
  • Notes: There are not any good patents showing.
  • Starting Aqua: 6
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 5

Turn 2

  • Operation: Research: Solar-pumped MHD Exciplex Laser
  • Starting Aqua: 5
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 4

Turn 3

  • Operation: Research: Microtube Array radiator
  • Event: Inspiration
  • Starting Aqua: 4
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 3

Turn 4

  • Operation: Research: D-T Fusion Tokamak
  • Notes: These are super heavy components.
  • Starting Aqua: 3
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 2

Turn 5

  • Operation: Fund Raise: delegate to Authority, move delegate to Centrist.
  • Event: Pad Explosion
  • Starting Aqua: 2
  • Net Δ Aqua: 1
  • Ending Aqua: 3

Turn 6

  • Operation: Fund Raise: delegate to Centrist, move Active Law to Individuality.
  • Notes: I need to start boosting so I can get more Research Operations.
  • Starting Aqua: 3
  • Net Δ Aqua: 1
  • Ending Aqua: 4

Turn 7

  • Operation: Research: Photon Kite Sail thruster.
  • Free Actions:
    • Boost whole hand.
  • Event: Glitch
  • Notes: I don't need or want this thruster, but I do need to cycle the thruster deck to find something useful.
  • Starting Aqua: 4
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 3

Turn 8

  • Operation: Research: Dumbo thruster.
  • Free Actions:
    • Boost whole hand.
  • Notes: Dumbo is a fuel hog, but my D-T Tokamak reactor cuts burns by 1/2. I now have enough components to build and fly a prospecting rocket. There is awesome M radiator showing which I'd probably take if this were a coop game.
  • Starting Aqua: 3
  • Net Δ Aqua: -1
  • Ending Aqua: 2

Turn 9

  • Operation: Fund Raise: Active Law to Centrist.
  • Event: Inspiration
  • Notes: Next, get a big load of fuel. In an Altruism/coop game I would fill my hand back up with cheap patents before the first solar cycle ended, like having money in the bank.
  • Starting Aqua: 2
  • Net Δ Aqua: 1
  • Ending Aqua: 3

Turn 10

  • Operation: Free Market: Photon Kite Sail.
  • Free Actions:
    • Cargo Transfer: decommission Photon Kite Sail.
  • Notes: I need one more Aqua to get to Lutetia.
  • Starting Aqua: 3
  • Net Δ Aqua: 3
  • Ending Aqua: 6

Turn 11

  • Operation: Free Market: Phase-Locked Diode Laser.
  • Free Actions:
    • Cargo Transfer: decommission Phase-Locked Diode Laser.

Internal Tankage: 7 Aqua. - Movement: Move to Hohmann at Lutetia. - Event: Anarchy - Starting Aqua: 6 - Net Δ Aqua: -4 - Ending Aqua: 2

Turn 12

  • Operation: Prospect: roll 3 to claim Lutetia.
  • Notes: This was lucky, 50% chance. In a longer game, I'd likely refuel here and keep prospecting while building a refinery rig back home. This would let me leave a mass 3 radiator in an outpost on a claim I intended to industrialize.
  • Starting Aqua: 2
  • Net Δ Aqua:
  • Ending Aqua: 2
