Jump Drive FTW

Today was a leave day from work, we got the day off from Department of Education, which was nice. Being completely underwater on a massive number of obligations, I spent a lot of the day chewing through emails. I didn’t quite get to inbox zero, but I’m not far from it either.
To help keep my mind from racing out of control, I threw from Jump Drive on the table, using the new-to-me technique of arranging cards played by turn from left to right. It really helps for keeping track of game play, and the scoring can be rebuilt very easily. Bonus was using my new minichips.
Game 90
This game was an attempt to get a Military strategy working, which failed on card draw. At the end, Galactic Trendsetters got me over the line with 56 points on Turn 7. I’m also trying to use Explore more often. In this case it was an attempt to get more military, but turned up GalFed instead.
Game 91
Another game which I tried to go Military and ended up with Galactic Trendsetters. I don’t even like playing Trendsetters that much, they just seem to turn up more often than not. Final score 63 in 7 rounds.
Game 92
I went after Military again, and almost pulled it off, with 44 in round 6. It took another round and leveraged the Alien Technology to snag 86 points. There are people on line who are saying they can usually get 50 points in 6 rounds, but I’m not there yet. My usual is 7 rounds.
Game 93
Finally, another 6 round win! This is first time I can recall leveraging Development cost reduction so successfully. The final Income was only 4 cards, which is almost absurd. A previous game went 8 rounds with 22 cards final draw.
Game 94
And of course I have to follow up a great win with an abysmal loss, also implicating Galactic Trendsetters. I’m starting to not like playing this card. I think it’s not that effect unless you can, somehow, get it on the table early enough with enough card draw to get 3 on by Turn 6. That’s a tall order! Or have a Colony Convoy ready to play, which I did not have in this game. It would have gone only 7 rounds otherwise, possibly only 6 had I been able to get two Trendsetters down (which I had the cards to do). Score 87 in 8 rounds.
Game 95
Finally another 6 turn win, this time scoring exactly 50 points. Of even more note, this was with the Brown (Mining) strategy, which I’ve had trouble winning with in the past. Feels good to put paid to the previous horrible game, and even better to not see any Galactic Trendsetters on the table at all.
