Absolutely Aces 114

Tags

I'm supposed to be working this Saturday, and I sort of am, just not the full day. Need a bit of time out here and there.

Schlock: Ace, Climb 6, Swoop 9, Roll 8, bid Joker.

Kaff: Scissors 2, Climb 7, Roll 10, Scissors 3, bid Break 4.

Out of play: Break 5, Swoop 11.

This looks like Kaff is favored.

  1. Schlock opens with Swoop 9.
  2. Kaff blocks with Scissors 2.
  3. Schlock blocks with Climb 6.
  4. Kaff blocks with Climb 7.
  5. Schlock blocks with Roll 8.
  6. Kaff blocks with Scissors 3.
  7. Schlock blocks with Ace. Looks like a cycle.
  8. Kaff blocks with Swoop 9.
  9. Schlock blocks with Break 4.
  10. Kaff blocks with Roll 8.
  11. Schlock blocks with Scissors 2.
  12. Kaff blocks with Climb 6.
  13. Schlock blocks with Climb 7.
  14. Kaff blocks with Roll 10.
  15. Schlock blocks with Scissors 3.
  16. Kaff blocks with Ace.
  17. Schlock blocks with Roll 8.
  18. Kaff blocks with Scissors 2.
  19. Schlock blocks with Climb 6.
  20. Kaff blocks with Climb 7.
  21. Schlock blocks with Roll 10.
  22. Kaff blocks with Scissors 3.
  23. Schlock blocks with Ace.
  24. Kaff blocks with Climb 6.
  25. Schlock blocks with Climb 7.

Whoever breaks the cycle will lose the round.

I noticed something this round: Swoop and Break "oppose" each other in a way, and if there are one each out of play, then having one each in opposing hands renders both cards essentially dead. Doing so constrains the game play to the remaining cards, basically, the remaining Swoop and break can be removed from the game since neither provides and edge. Swoop could be used against the Ace if the Ace is in play, but that might well lead to cycles. An option is getting both Break and Swoop into the same side, but that still leaves any Scissors out there able to block the Swoop when it's in play.

Score:

  • Schlock 2
  • Kaff 2

Round 2

Schlock: Climb 7, Scissors 2, Break 4, Ace, bid Joker.

Kaff: Roll 8, Swoop 9, Climb 6, Swoop 11, bid Break 5.

Out of play: Scissors 3, Roll 10.

  1. Schlock opens with Break 4.
  2. Kaff blocks with Swoop 9, Swoop 11.
  3. Schlock blocks with Break 5.
  4. Kaff blocks with Roll 8.
  5. Schlock blocks with Scissors 2.
  6. Kaff blocks with Climb 6.
  7. Schlock blocks with Climb 7.
  8. Kaff blocks with Break 4, Break 5.
  9. Schlock blocks with Roll 8.
  10. Kaff blocks with Scissors 2.
  11. Schlock blocks with Ace, which I think gives the round with Scissors 2.
  12. Kaff blocks with Climb 7.
  13. Schlock blocks with Climb 6.

Nope, cycle again.

Score:

  • Schlock 4
  • Kaff 4

Round 3

Schlock: Scissors 2, Roll 10, Roll 8, Break 5, bid Swoop 9.

Kaff: Scissors 3, Swoop 11, Break 4, Ace, bid Joker.

Out of play: Climb 6, Climb 7.

  1. Kaff opens with Scissors 3.
  2. Schlock blocks with Roll 8, Roll 10.
  3. Kaff blocks with Ace.
  4. Schlock blocks with Scissors 2.
  5. Kaff blocks with Swoop 9, Swoop 11.
  6. Schlock blocks with Scissors 3 taking Round 3.

Score:

  • Schlock 7

Round 4

Schlock: Climb 7, Ace, Roll 10, Break 4, bid Swoop 11.

Kaff: Climb 6, Break 5, Swoop 9, Roll 8, bid Joker.

Out of play: Scissors 2, Scissors 3.

This is going to be pretty interesting with both Scissors out of play.

  1. Kaff opens with Roll 8.
  2. Schlock blocks with Ace.
  3. Kaff blocks with Climb 6.
  4. Schlock blocks with Roll 10. Probably should be been Climb 7.
  5. Kaff blocks with Swoop 9, Swoop 11.
  6. Schlock blocks with Break 4.
  7. Kaff blocks with Break 5.
  8. Schlock blocks with Roll 8.
  9. Kaff blocks with Ace.
  10. Schlock blocks with Climb 6.
  11. Kaff blocks with Roll 10 taking Round 4 and the win.

Score:

  • Schlock 7
  • Kaff 15

AAR

I think I'm getting better at this game as so many more rounds end up in cycles where the person breaking the cycle will lose. If there is a potential for error, the first person to make an error will lose.
