LotR 208 - Escape from Dol Guldur (10)
Back to the infamous Escape from Dol Guldur, where the Necromancer has imprisoned one of our own.
My usual colleague for Lord of the Rings is game for rewinding a bit to get caught up on our plays. We only playd Dol Guldur once, just to get a taste of it, then swung into the Shadows of Mirkwood progression style. For this play we build core-only decks to keep the progression spirit alive.
It turns out that at least for 2 player quests, Cair Andros and Into Ithilien are rated harder than Escape from Dol Guldur. And after this game, that seems reasonable. We managed to get through Stage 1 in 3 rounds. Round 4 in Stage 2 managed to get just 1 too many enemies in play, with too much damage on our heroes. Had we had some healing, we might have been able to make it into Stage 3. However, we did fail a quest which pushed one of the Objectives back into the deck, which was kind of game loser right there.
Anyways, we’ll beat this thing for sure. It’s hard, but we’ve done hard before and overcome, so we’ll do that here as well.
