Back to Basics core trisphere deck back in action for an eigth attempt at Journey Along the Anduin. This is the basic 44 card deck.

  3. Quest: Eowyn and Theodred, draw The Brown Lands. Crap. Threat 30. No big deal as I was going to pull out Hill Troll #1 anyway.
  4. Travel: none.
  5. Encounter: Hill Troll #1.
  6. Combat: Guard of the Citadel defends, Shadow Despair, defense is not counted. Doesn't matter here, Threat 34.
  7. Refresh: Threat 35.

Round 3

  2. Planning: Forest Snare on Hill Troll. Northern Tracker.
  3. Quest: Eowyn, Northern Tracker draw Dol Guldur Orcs, net 2 P clears Necromancer's Pass.

  5. Encounter: Dol Guldur Orcs.
  6. Combat: Undefended…Shadow card is Hill Troll #2. Excellent. Beravor takes 2 D, Theodred and Beravor kill Dol Guldur Orcs.

  2. Planning: Steward of Gondor on Eowyn. Galadhrim's Greeting to reduce to Threat 32. No Evil Storm for me.
  3. Quest: Eowyn and Northern Tracker for 5 Will, draw Wargs, net progress 0.
  4. Travel: none.
  5. Encounter: Wargs.
  6. Combat: Beravor defends against Wargs after playing Lore of Imladris. Shadow card is Despair, defender doesn't count defense, 3 hits on Beravor. Crap. Hill Troll Shadow is Misty Mountain Goblins. Theodred puts 1 D on Wargs.

  3. Quest: Eowyn, Northern Tracker and Beravor, Gladden Fields is gone, draw Treacherous Fog for no effect. Net +3 Progress to Bank of Anduin.
  4. Travel: none.
  5. Encounter: Wargs
  6. Combat: Snowbourn Scout defends Shadow is Pursued by Shadow return Northern Tracker to hand. No big deal. That loses a damage on Northern Tracker. Beravor and Theodred kill Wargs. Shadow is Banks of the Anduin on Hill Troll.

  6. Combat: Shadow card for Hill Troll is Goblin Sniper.

  2. Planning: Miner of the Iron Hills, Dwarven Tomb to Recycle Galadhrim's Greeting, which puts threat back to 27.
  3. Quest: Eowyn, Theodred and Erebor Hammersmith, draw Massing at Night, draw again Dol Guldur Orcs.
  4. Travel: none.
  5. Encounter: Dol Guldur Orcs.
  6. Combat: Sneak Attack! Gandalf in play for Combat Phase, 4 D on Dol Guldur Orcs, they're dead. Shadow was Evil Storm. Now all attack Hill Troll with 10, need 9 Hill Troll #1 is dead and we progress to Phase 2 of quest immediately. Also, Hill Troll Shadow card was Evil Storm.
  7. Refresh: Threat 28. Beravor draws Henamarth Riversong and Sneak Attack. Gleowine draws Northern Tracker.

Round 12

  2. Planning: Snowbourn Scout, Northern Tracker, Henamarth Riversong.
  3. Quest: Northern Tracker x 2, Eowyn, Theodred, Henamarths and, Erebor. Draw Eatern Crows, Brown Lands and Marsh Adder for 12 Threat. Dang. But I have a Stand and Fight, so I'm going to grab a Snowbourn Scout from the discard to eliminate The Brown Lands. This puts 8 on the quest.
  4. Travel: none. Beravor draws Beorn and For Gondor! Gleowine draws Lore of Imladris.
  5. Encounter: none.
  6. Combat: none.
  7. Refresh: Threat 29.

Round 13

  1. Resource: 14, draw Steward of Gondor.
  2. Planning: Gleowine draws Guard of the Citadel, put into play.
  3. Quest: Eowyn with discard 3 for 7, Northern Tracker x 2, Theodred, Erebor, Henamarth, Guard of Citadel for 20. draw Pursued by Shadow which I'm canceling with A Test of Will, and Dol Guldur Beastmaster. Net +9 which clears Anduin Passage. Now in play: Ambush on the Shore. Draw Enchanted Stream x 2.
  4. Travel: The East Bight, won't be a problem to clear, we don't even care about it now.
  5. Encounter: Engage Eastern Crows.
  6. Combat: Miner of the Iron Hills defends, Shadow Goblin Sniper, no effect. Guard of the Citadel kills Eastern Crows.
  7. Refresh: Threat 30. Beravor draws Miner of the Iron Hills, Gandalf.

Round 14

  1. Resource: 17, draw Snowbourn Scout.
  2. Planning: Play Snowbourn Scout, 1 P on The East Bight. Lore of Imladris on Beravor.
  3. Quest: Eowyn, Northern Tracker x 2 Faramir for 8 net +1 P. The East Bight is cleared, and the Northern Trackers handled both Enchanted Streams.
  4. Travel: none.
  5. Encounter: Engage Chieftain Ufthak
  6. Combat: Shadow card is Evil Storm, Snowbourn Scout defending. Sneak Attack Gandalf with 4 D on Dol Guldur Beastmaster, Erebor, Henamarth, Guard, Miner and Gandalf swing for 9 precisely and Ufthak checks out. Gandalf back to hand.
  7. Refresh: Threat 31. Beravor draws Gandalf and Guard of the Citadel. That's the end of the deck.

Round 15

  1. Resource: 18, no draw.
  2. Planning: Will of the West, Gleowine draws Forest Snare. Play Gandalf, Guard of the Citadel, Miner of the Iron Hills.
  3. Quest: Eowyn, Theodred, no draw, 0 P.
  4. Travel: none.
  5. Encounter: Engage Dol Guldur.
  6. Combat: defend with Gandalf, Shadow 1 is Gladden Fields for no effect, Shadow 2 is Eastern Crows for +1, Gandalf takes no damage. Need 2 hits to kill Dol Guldur take from Northern Tracker.
  7. Refresh: Threat 32.

Round 16

  1. Resource: 13, draw Faramir.
  2. Planning: play Gandalf for 4 hits on Marsh Adder and that's the game.

This was slow to get started, but once this deck gets going, it's a monster.
